Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church founded in 1837 is a member congregation of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We believe, teach, and confess the doctrine of the evangelical faith as it is taught by the Holy Scriptures and faithfully confessed in the Book of Concord of 1580.

Therefore we believe in the Triune God: God the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ His only Son, who for us men and for our salvation, became human to suffer and die for the sins of all people and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan, salvation is through Christ alone; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through hearing God's Word and receiving His Sacraments. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, three persons, one God.

As Lutherans, we accept and teach the Bible based teachings of Martin Luther (the simplest of these being The Small Catechism) and other Lutheran reformers which can be summarized in three short phrases:

Grace alone
God loves the people of the world, even though they are sinful, rebel against Him and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly.

Faith alone
By His suffering and death as the substitute for all people of all time, Jesus purchased and won forgiveness and eternal life for them. Those who hear this Good News and believe it have the eternal life that it offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Him.

Scripture alone
The Bible is God's inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

Consequently we are committed to the pure preaching of God’s Word and the right administration of the Holy Sacraments, catechesis of all people in the Christian faith, and liturgical worship consistent with our Lutheran heritage. We are an evangelical and orthodox congregation, proclaiming Jesus Christ crucified, risen, and reigning for the salvation of the world.
